Teehee: Super Slo-Mo Video of People Getting Tasered in the Name of Art

Slow Motion Taser Video Photo Art Video

When the word “taser” is uttered, the best gut jerk reaction, these days, would be to yell, “Don’t tase me bro!” One photographer by the name of Patrick Hall wanted to go one step further by capturing the exact moment of pain when one is tased. The result is pretty hilarious, and for some of the victims strangely erotic it seems. Check out Patrick’s full video for The Taser Photo Shoot after the break.

If it’s for the sake of art, it must be for a good cause right? Over 100 people were tasered in a single night. Each person was tased by a friend or a significant other. Some of the different reactions range from overly frightened to strangely aroused, and everywhere in between. This almost looks like the poster campaign for Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. I can only assume they were shot half nude from the chest up is because he didn’t want to hide the muscle reactions when the electric shock met the skin.

For the photography geeks out there, Hall used a 36MP Nikon D810 DSLR with a Nikkor 70-200 2.8  lens to capture the images. The slow motion videos were filmed using two Sony FS700 cameras at 240 frames per second; the lenses used were another Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens on one camera and a Canon 70-200 2.8 lens on the second camera.

Here are some of the still images, you can find the rest at Fstoppers:

Hall has actually played with this idea for over a year now, and is happy that it has finally come to fruition:

“As a portrait photographer, I am always trying to make people feel comfortable in front of my camera so I can capture a real emotion from them.  But what if I was able to make people feel so uncomfortable in front of the camera that I could guarantee an interesting portrait every time?”

Like many photographers, I have a ton of ideas floating around that I think would be great to explore. This idea for a photo series showing people the second they are hit with a taser or stun gun has been something I have wanted to photograph for almost a year now.  Despite all the barriers it presented and the countless people who thought I was a sadist, crazy, or just outright irresponsible, I decided to finally stop talking about this idea and actually execute it.”

As part of the Fstoppers community, this photo shoot was meant to inspire and educate other photographers, videographers, and other other creatives. Patrick Hall founded Fstoppers with a guy by the name of Lee Morris back in 2010. They strive to become the best resource for photography lighting, gear reviews, business tips, behind the scenes, and industry news. You can watch the behind the scenes footage of this photo shoot on their website, as well as an extended look at the ones who tasered the subjects for the video.
