E3 2012 ‘Tomb Raider’ Teaser Trailer

Tomb Raider E3 2012 Teaser

It’s been a year since we last saw footage of Ms. Croft at E3 2011. With E3 2012 right around the corner, many have been anticipating to see how far Crystal Dynamics have come to bring Tomb Raiderback to modern audiences. Providing nothing but a tease, this new trailer promises much more that we can expect to see when the convention hits early next month.

There was a lot of interesting gameplay shown last year at E3, and my expectations of Tomb Raider have only heightened since. Now from what I can recall, I’ve only played Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness for PlayStation 2, but from what has been shown so far, I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on this game come E3 2012 – that is if they allow it.

Gameplay from last year’s show did reflect similarities to the Uncharted franchise, but didn’t that game bear many callbacks to Tomb Raider? Based on this teaser, I can only assume that there will be a huge preview this year that will show off much more gameplay and cutscene footage. Take a look:

Very little is shown in that short 30-second preview, but as far as I can tell, the gap between Uncharted and the new Tomb Raider is dwindling. That plane climbing sequence looked awfully familiar to what we’ve seen in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. I’m trying to hold my criticisms until I’ve actually seen more gameplay, but it must be noted. I really want to stay as positive as I can, but they need to show more depth than what they have been giving us.

And as bad luck would have it, we won’t even get to see this game released on time! Bah humbug.

What are you most excited for to seeing from Tomb Raider when E3 2012 arrives?

Expect Tomb Raider to be released sometime early in 2013 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
