For all intents and purposes, NBC has decided to delay the fourth season premiere of Community. There has not been much coverage or TV spots on this show and it has made me wonder if it would make its original October 19 air date. Now it’s official, fans of the show must now wait in the dark as NBC plays with our heartstrings just a little more until they figure out what they are going to do with our favorite Human Beings.
Regarding this latest debacle, the corporate heads at NBC have not given a solid answer as to when audiences will be able to return to Greendale, but they have made it pretty clear it is not on the top of their list to focus on. Now that Community has moved to Fridays, this just solidifies the fact that Fridays are the beginning of the end for shows. But could we see Community pushed to a earlier weekday?
“Given the success we’ve had for the past four weeks – including winning the first week of the season in [the] A18-49 [demographic] – we’ve decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold COMMUNITY and WHITNEY from their previously announced premieres of October 19th. Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week — plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of Whitney and Community.”
Let’s rally the troops and push Annie’s Boobs to the forefront to get Community back on air to a better weekday! We can cross our fingers and hope that new shows like Guys with Kids tank and is replaced by Community.
Better news, the Community cast have gained the lovely Brie Larson, who some may know as Scott Pilgrim’s ex-girlfriend Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. This may not be a big casting choice like adding John Goodman, but Larson has great young talent and a nice pep of charisma. Along with Brie Larson, the fourth season of Community will also see appearances by James Brolin, Malcolm McDowell, and Matt Lucas. No word on who these actors will be playing, but hopefully the new writers will have something enjoyable planned.
We’ve seen our fair share of road bumps on the path to season four, but I remain hopeful. Along with the incredible fanbase, the chemistry that these actors exude make this show possible. If NBC continues to delay the Community, perhaps another fan uprising will spark the fire under the seats of the bigwigs in charge.
As I said before, there is not set date for the season four premiere. Community stars Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash.
