Anyone looking to capitalize on deals even earlier this year will be embraced by the loving red and khaki arms of Target. Forget spending the holidays with your family, indoors, enjoying delicious turkey and mashed potatoes, Target is opening their doors at 9pm on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22. See the multitude of their Black Friday deals after the break.

Much like Best Buy’s Black Friday Deals, Target has practically the same bargains as they had last year. When I heard about Target opening on Thanksgiving Day, I immediately thought of  how crazy the company is. I’m sure the team members can’t be too pleased. All that tryptophan coursing through their veins is going to be a killer, but hey, at least they’ll get free Del Taco in the breakroom right? I wonder if consumers will take the bait and wait in line rather than spending time with their family on Thanksgiving.

Now Target’s prices may be a little steeper than Best Buy’s, but if you apply for a Target debit card you will save 5% on every item, for every purchase. This card is a gift from the heavens. Not only can you link it straight to a checking account you already have, but there are no fees and the discount is available year-round. Also, 1% of the profits of the card go to a school of your choice, K-12 – that’s if you actually take the time to register the donation. Here’s the kicker, you have to bring in a blank check otherwise the company can not process your card application. Bummer. So don’t forget a check! And remember that when you see the prices of things below.

TV Sets and Entertainment Systems

Target does have a sale on an APEX 32″ 720p LCD HDTV for $147, but that is such low quality and small screen. In my opinion, the best deal you’re going to find at target is this Samsung 50″ 1080p LED HDTV seen above. It’s a good brand, and I believe it has a 120Hz refresh rate. For that price as an LED and that size, this is a solid deal. They are also offering a Westinghouse 50″ LCD HDTV for $349, which I would say go for it if you want cheap and gigantic.

The home of the red bullseye does have the one up on Best Buy with a deal on a 6-foot HDMI cable for just $9.99, which Best Buy is selling one for $19.99.

Other entertainment deals include a Memorex DVD player for $19.99, if you still like DVDs, or a Samsung Wi-Fi enabled Blu-ray player for $69.99 (this does not compare to BB’s $40 Toshiba Wi-Fi Blu-ray player).

Random Electronics

Here are a few more deals on electronics that are not terrible, but for Black Friday, they come secondary:

Receive a $60 gift card with the purchase of an iPad with retina display only (not valid with a purchase of an iPad mini) for $499.99.

Movies and TV SERIES (bLU-RAY AND dvd)

Now here is where we get a little touchy on Best Buy vs Target. Certain movie titles are going to be cheaper at one location versus the other. Target does offer $1 DVDs compared to Best Buy’s $1.99. But Best Buy does have the one up on Blu-ray prices for TV Series. (Today I saw Glee Seasons 1 and 2 on Blu-ray at Best Buy for $12.99 each – that’s a steal if you love that show.) Both retailers are offering practically the same price on movies, but if it is TV series you want, you’ll have to do your research.

Best Buy’s ad didn’t showcase their whole sale inventory, and neither does Target’s. Prometheus for $10 is a great deal, especially for how bad it was and the fact that you get a DVD and a digital copy with your Blu-ray purchase. But here we are with Project X on DVD at Target for $6, while Best Buy is selling it on Blu-ray for $3.99.

Video Games

The PlayStation 3 bundle is the same at Best Buy, but doesn’t include a free PlayStation Plus trial. However, Target does have an Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Bundle with three games for $199 down from $299. This would be great, but you’ll still have to purchase a $120 hard drive. They are selling the Wii still for $119.99, which houses Just Dance Kids 2 and two sports resort games. A decent deal if you don’t want to buy the Wii U for $349.99.

Handheld offers are very similar among both retailers too. The Super Mario 3D Land Nintendo 3DS bundle at Target is also $149.99 while the PS Vita price is the same at Best Buy for $199.99, but does not include the extra 4GB memory card and you only get Lego Batman 2 instead of Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

If you’re looking for competitive pricing on video game titles such as Borderlands 2, Max Payne 3 or Halo 4, Target has some good prices (seen above).

EVERYTHING ELSE

One of the best parts about shopping at Target on Black Friday is that it is a one-stop shop for many. They have home décor, clothing, toys, kitchen supplies, hardware, and more.

Board games do not go cheap, and they have a gigantic wall of them. Get Connect 4, Monopoly, and Battleship for just $7. Most of these board games are practically half-off or more.

Do you think dolls come cheap? Hello no! You can find them reasonably priced during the year at Target, but Black Friday is the best time to stock up on gifts for your daughter’s future birthdays and other holidays.

Cookware? Target has you covered. Pots, pans, knives, and plates – these are the real wallet killers regularly. Black Friday is the perfect time to stock up on your kitchen necessities. $39.99 for a complete 18-piece nonstick cookset is unbeatable.

All of Target’s bedding seems to be half-off too, which will be in the $30 range for some really nice 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. Target also has bath towels for $2 each and oversized fuzzy throw blankets from $10-20.

When you’re deciding to shop on Black Friday think about whether or not you want to get all of it done in one place. You could potentially save money on gas if you stay at Target and bite the bullet on the pricier items. But don’t forget to sign up for a Target debit card, which I said before will save you 5% on every purchase, all year-round, with no fees!
