Gravity, an Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) passion project that has been under the careful eyes and radars of film fanatics everywhere is finally seeing the light of day. What has taken over several years to produce is now a reality. Starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, this outer space thriller looks to catapult audiences into a new level of cinematic delight. From what I knew before watching the teaser trailer, Gravity is about two astronauts who happened to be Clooney and Bullock. That’s it. But that’s all I really wanted to know for some reason. That premise alone with those two actors piqued my interest. Originally set to debut last year, I was more than excited to see what Cuarón had in store, but unfortunately the film continued to have its release date pushed back. But now with a full teaser trailer out in the open we can all rest a little bit easier… or so we thought.

When you watch the trailer for Gravity below you won’t know what hit you until you finally take a breath. This trailer is gripping, intense, and will consume you with feelings of anxiety and panic. It is very minimalistic. So little said within 90 seconds, but it is a perfect teaser trailer for what this film is offering. Check it out:

Relax. Breathe easy. What did I tell ya? The teaser trailer is so engaging you feel like you’re right there with the characters drifting off in space. It is literally breathtaking. Even more so in 3D if you happened to watch this in theaters. A few questions come to mind while watching this: because this trailer is so simple, will this be a film similar to 127 Hours full of flashbacks and life reflections they chose to not display; and how can two people floating in space be fulfilling enough to demand your attention for 90 minutes or more? I’m not saying it’s not possible to make a story out of this, I am just questioning what will the plot entail? One thing’s for sure, I am never going into space.

Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission is in space with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Gravity lands in U.S. theaters October 4 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
