The first trailer for the much anticipated follow-up to Seth MacFarlane’s Ted has arrived. A Million Ways to Die in the West takes MacFarlane’s sensibility to the old west to drink whiskey, take drugs with Native Americans, and get in a gun fight with Liam Neeson. Watch the full trailer after the break.
Aside from the title of the film being excruciatingly terrible and wordy, I don’t see the appeal of A Million Ways like I did with Ted. Seth MacFarlane’s comedy is usually pretty offensive and sharp, but this feels very elementary for him. What I hope is that many of the big jokes are kept hidden in the actual movie. It’s always the worst when the more comedic elements of a movie are shown in a trailer and then you’re left with nothing to laugh at when you sit down with your gallon of popcorn in the theater as you gain diabetes from a trough of cola. Not fun.
But even so, the premise of this spaghetti western doesn’t even sound fun. Just a guy who complains about the wild west who must choose between one hottie, Amanda Seyfried, and another hottie, Charlize Theron. His life must be unbearable. If it wasn’t for Ted being so funny, I wouldn’t give this much of a chance, but I am staying optimistic.
