For those of you who have prayed to know what it’s like to live the life of a rock, wait no longer, your prayers have been answered. The good people at Strange Panther Games have developed a free experience that doesn’t exactly add up to the excitement of a flight simulator, but may rival your extreme boredom. The game, if you choose to call it that, is called Rock Simulator 2014. Hit the jump to see what you can expect from the hopeful, soon to be simulator.
Yes, a rock simulator exists. Sadly, this isn’t a simulation of what life is like as The People’s Champ.
Here is the premise, you are a rock and you exist as such. Sometimes something might happen. You may roll down a cliff, you may be rained on, and I can only assume that the rest of the time, you are just there, you are at a standstill for days weeks, and months.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the game is said to have customizable rock options, multiple levels and game modes, and the icing on the cake, Oculus Rift support. If you are unfamiliar with the technology of Oculus Rift, in short, it is head-mounted virtually reality.
If you’re like me, you are wondering how did a game like this get created. Well, the simulator is strictly conceptual in it’s current form. Before the game can be officially launched, the developers are looking for funding.
Rock Simulator 2014 is currently #1 on Steam Greenlight, an Internet based, independent distributor, and has garnered enough support to prompt the launch of an IndieGoGo campaign to raise $5000.
Here is the game’s description courtesy of the Steam Greenlight page:
