Comic-Con 2014 Photo Gallery

San Diego Comic-Con, the mecca for cosplayers from around the globe has sadly come and gone. But we’ve got just the treat for you to relive that special time of year whenever you would like. We met with hundreds of wonderful cosplayers this past SDCC weekend who were kind enough to stop and pose for a picture, and we’d like to share them all with you of course. Check out our full Comic-Con 2014 cosplay photo gallery after the break.

In all honesty, I’m really surprised by the lack of Slave Leias there were. I think that PSA really got people thinking outside the box. However, I believe that Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons is now the new Slave Leia. You could find Khaleesi anywhere you turned. Another common cosplay was Black Widow. Perhaps a storm of strong female characters was just in the cards this year.

Aside from the aforementioned characters, Attack on Titan had a very heavy presence on the exhibit room floor. There’s no doubt that the anime series is one of the fastest growing fanbase in its short, continuing lifespan.

Game of Thrones was also a very clear choice to cosplay at Comic-Con. But unlike Attack on Titan, there are a slew of characters to choose from that don’t easily resemble each other.

The cosplays that really stand out are the franchise crossovers. When fans can come up with really unique character mashups like Sockboy from Little Big Planet infused with Link from The Legend of Zelda or a Snow White Boba Fett, those gain the most creative points in my book. Cosplayers who add the little details like a hand print on the neck of Cheryl from Archer or steampunk versions of their favorite characters also get bonus points for extra innovation.

I always see cosplay galleries consist of cosplayers who take their poses seriously and stick to their characters or just show a smile. That’s great, and they look awesome doing it, but I wanted to have a little fun this year and take the characters out of their element. So within the gallery below you’ll find that I had cosplayers have fun with themselves and pose in different ways or make funny faces than you would normally see. I also caught some notable cosplayers in the wild, such as Jessica Nigri, Traci Hines, Amie Lynn, and Angelica Dawn, as civilians having fun.

At the bottom of the page you can find cosplayer fan pages if you’d like to follow them. And let us know which cosplays are you favorite. Enjoy!
