NYCC 2019: TNT’s “SNOWPIERCER” Animated Promo Teaser Debuts

TNT Snowpiercer Animated Promo Train

After its panel from New York Comic Con, TNT released a new animated promo for its adaptation of “Snowpiercer,” which is set to debut this Spring 2020. Starring Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly and Tony Award-winner Daveed Diggs, the series is set seven years after humanity inflicted an apocalyptic freeze dooming all life, forcing those who sought survival onto the Snowpiercer, a never ceasing train that harbors the last remnants of life on Earth. Check out the new promo after the jump.

The teaser seen below, mixes elements of animation and live-action, assumed to be in celebration of the 1982 French graphic novel its adapted from, Le Transperceneige, as well as its cinematic predecessor its a prequel to, the 2013 sci-fi thriller starring Chris Evans and directed by Bong Joon-ho. While the show is set seven years after the freeze, the 2013 film is set 15 years later.

According to a report from /Film, showrunner and executive producer Graeme Manson spoke to the NYCC audience stating, “The film starts from the tail and it’s really linear. But we bounce around the classes and tell this class story. It’s about class, immigration detention, climate; it’s a beautiful existential tapestry we get to work with.”

Regarding its setting in time, Manson also stated, “We chose to bump it up to make the experience of everyone losing their loved ones more immediate and visceral. Everyone on this train has suffered amazing loss, on a train that is 10 miles long and 1,001 cars long. We have a map in the writer’s room…it’s quite a monster, the train. It’s a character unto itself.”

Here’s the official plot synopsis, courtesy of TNT:
