Demons, love, meatballs and spies, this weekend is filled with everything and anything, I suppose, in the movie world. Here are some suggestions on what you should see this on the weekend of September 18, 2009.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (Anna Faris, Bill Hader, Bruce Campbell) Inspired by the children’s book, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain. This could be a cute little movie to go see with the family. I don’t know if I would spend the extra on the 3-D atmosphere since EVERY movie is coming out in 3-D. But if you don’t mind animated movies and children’s stories, than this is for you. See it/rent it
Love Happens (Jennifer Aniston, Aaron Eckhart) On a business trip to Seattle, a popular self-help guru (Eckhart) sparks with a woman (Aniston) who attends one of his seminars. Their connection causes his to realize, however, that he hasn’t truly confronted his wife’s recent passing. Although I am not a Aniston fan, I am a Eckhart fan. They do look like they have good chemistry on camera and this could be a good romance movie. From what it seems, there isn’t much of a support cast, but I doubt much is necessary. This little romance could happen in your weekend if you let it. See it
Jennifer’s Body (Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody) A cheerleader at a small midwestern high school becomes possessed by a demon and sets out to kill off all the guys in town. This is directed and written by the same person who did Juno, but don’t be fooled. From what I’ve read, this has been pretty bad and flopped at many premiers. If you like cheesy horror comedies this could be for you. But if you don’t want a case of blue balls and sit through Fox’s acting, than I’d skip it if I were you. I’d wait til it was on HBO or something. Skip it
The Informant! – Limited Viewing (Matt Damon, Tony Hale, Patton Oswalt) The U.S. government decides to go after an agri-business giant with a price-fixing accusation, based on the evidence submitted by their star witness, company-man-turned-whistleblower Mark Whitacre (Damon). Now this has gotten a lot of hype and I wouldn’t mind seeing what it’s all about, but something about it tells me to wait. Matt Damon entertains me from time to time and this could be a good role for him. See it
