Box Office Battlefield: ‘Extraordinary Measures’ and ‘Legion’

Well how about another God like faring movie this weekend? Yeah? Maybe? It looks cool. What other movies are coming out this weekend? Why should you still see Avatar? Well I’ll tell you what is coming out on the weekend of January 22, 2010 and whether or not it’s worth your time.

Legion

Legion

Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, Charles S. Dutton (Full Cast)

The Plot: God has lost his faith in humankind, causing him to send his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. A remote diner becomes the battleground, where the Archangel Michael (Bettany) bands together with a group of strangers, though Michael’s true focus is to protect a pregnant waitress whose unborn child is humankind’s hope for survival.

My Take: Looks awesome, but could deceive. I’d categorize this in a context of what Daybreakers was. Something cool, unique, but in the end is a pretty average thrill/action. I’d say it is one you could probably see in the theaters just because it would be nice to see an action film on the big screen. Angels attacking humans due to God losing all faith in humanity and the only hope is for a woman to deliver a baby. I’ll go with it. See It

Tooth Fairy

Tooth Fairy

Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews (Full Cast)

The Plot: A bad deed on the part of a tough minor-league hockey player (Johnson) results in an unusual sentence: He must serve one week as a real-life tooth fairy.

My Take: Have you seen The Santa Clause before with Tim Allen? Well you’d be better off seeing that movie and just replacing Tim Allen with Dwayne “Don’t call me the Rock” Johnson and switching characters of Santa with the Tooth Fairy. I mean, it could be a film your kids might enjoy, but it’s just full of slapstick, physical, and mindless humor that just makes eyes roll. Skip It, watch it on TBS/TNT?

Extraordinary Measures

Extraordinary Measures

Brendan Fraser, Keri Russell, Harrison Ford (Full Cast)

The Plot: A drama centered on the efforts of John and Aileen Crowley (Fraser and Russell) to find a researcher (Ford) to develop a potential cure for their two children’s rare genetic disorder.

My Take: Seems like an interesting story, but with no depth that can carry on to full interest. Looks like a way over dramatic performance that just drags on at points, but wouldn’t be bad to catch on the fly if you are really up to it. Rent It.
