We’re less than one week away until the premiere of The Walking Dead’s second season and who could honestly not be thrilled about that? With as much hype as the first season brought on, it has been one year too long since the last season aired. I’m ready for some more fleshing eating horror drama!Unfortunately or not, the director behind the first season had been fired and Glen Mazzara will be replacing Frank Darabont for this new season. Perhaps we will see a breath of fresh air with new eyes behind the direction. As much as I loved the first season, I felt the pacing was a bit off and it could have been a bit more up tempo for a zombie apocalypse.

With all that said, the first full trailer delivers some great new insight into what we’ll be seeing from the next season of The Walking Dead and I couldn’t be happier.

The trailer does nothing but enhance my excitement for this series to continue. After seeing the premiere of American Horror Story, my allegiance will be fully fledged and bound to The Walking Dead. If you haven’t already done so I suggest you check out the first season of the series on Netflix Instant if you are a subscriber as it recently just became available.

Now what I really need to focus on is catching up with all 86 comics for the series that Robert Kirkman has created who is also an executive producer of the show. From what I’ve read so far, I can say that I’ve highly enjoyed it and the show has captured the tone quite well. It’s interesting to see how much they’ve added to the story. I really like that Darabont utilized his creative freedom to go beyond the comic and not just have a shot for shot rehash of what’s on paper. The story of the African American story that Rick Grimes first meets is way more in-depth, and the tale of being trapped in the city when Rick first arrives isn’t even in the comic.

As the poster suggests, the second season of The Walking Dead will premiere this Sunday, October 16 at 9/8c! What kind of trouble will we find Rick Grimes in this season? I can’t wait to find out!
