‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’ Trailer

Disney Pixar Monsters Inc 3D

Monsters, Inc. 3D is becoming frightfully more real as the end of the year draws near. I for one would preferably rather see The Incredibles post converted into 3D because of the more action-y, visual elements in that film, but we’ll just have to suffice with Monsters, Inc. for now. The first trailer has appeared online for your viewing pleasure. Are you ready to go back to Monstropolis?

I’m all for the re-release of great movies, especially for those who never were able to see them in the first place. I never saw most of the Harry Potterfilms on the big screen until last year, and this is a great chance to relive or for the first time see some of these Pixar films on the silver screen.

The only thing the irks me is the fact that they have to re-release it in 3D. Like I stated previously when they released the first poster for Monsters, Inc. 3D, I just don’t see the practical use of the medium for this film. The only exhilarating scene we’ll see in 3D will be the chase sequence among the conveyor warehouse of doors.

Having to wear the 3D glasses throughout the entire film is not my idea of a fun time, especially when I’m only looking to see that scene. Perhaps it will surprise me in certain areas.

This is a great trailer to reminisce about Monsters, Inc., but aside from that, I don’t think it is an effective trailer to visually stimulate anyone to want to go see this in 3D. There aren’t too many other scenes that warrant a large depth of field for the 3D to look great past the screen. And there are not too many instances where things will come at you either.

But who am I kidding, most 3D animated features look great in 3D. Kung Fu Panda 2 and How To Train Your Dragon both looked incredible – but they did know they would be in 3D. So who knows, we’ll have to wait and see now won’t we?

Monsters, Inc. 3D will arrive in theaters December 19, 2012.
