New ‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’ Trailer and Screenshots from Tokyo Game Show

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Title

Regardless on how loosely based Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, this will be one of the most balls to the wall action games of the next year. Leaving the 2012 Tokyo Game Show, fans of the MGS series looking for a better taste of Revengeance got their fix in a brand new trailer that showcases a lot of action and a brand new gameplay element.

After the recently announced release date of February 19, 2013, gamers have been waiting anxiously to get their hands on this slice and dice action. The zan-datsu (cut-and-take) element of the game is absolutely crazy, but this new trailer shows us something else that Raiden can do other than hack and slash. He can control the little ball arm guys. (These things were creepy in Metal Gear Solid 4 and they are still creepy now.)

The Metal Gear Soliduniverse has a ton of interesting villains, but since MGS4, the characters within this universe are beginning to take on a very stylized armor-fetish. I bought it in MGS4, but these villains look a little tacky. I’m sure they will be very challenging, but I’d like to know what went on in Platinum Games‘ boardroom when they gave one dreamed up a boss with 10 arms. Watch the trailer below for more details on these crazy bosses.

The trailer is in Japanese, but you can get the gist of what this trailer is going for. Just pure action adrenaline. I’m not quite sure what the gigantic ominous boss or boss headquarters was, but it looks pretty intimidating. Maybe it’s a new type of metal gear? If you want a full trailer in English, go here.

Upon the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, there will be an ultra limited edition that will be seen on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America. This bundle will include a full copy of the game, official soundtrack, Limited Edition 2-sided Steelbook, and an exclusive high-frequency katana blade plasma lamp. Pretty nifty right?

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, along with the Limited Edition, will be available on February 19, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
