That’s right folk, AMC is looking to rebroadcast the first two seasons of The Walking Dead in black and white. Taking a page out of the comics’ playbook, fans can relive classic moments from the show only enjoyed by those who read the books. After the jump, see the full schedule of when the episodes will air.
I’m sure that Kirkman’s intentions to present the books and the series in black and white is an homage to George A. Romero‘s Night of the Living Dead. There is something about zombies terrorizing the living monochromatically that heightens the tension. However, I don’t think it will help season 2 much.
As of right now, only season 1 and the first half of season 2 have been scheduled for this black and white re-release. Starting every Thursday night, beginning on February 14, the re-airing of The Walking Dead will begin.
The highly praised zombie drama previously aired the pilot episode, “Days Gone Bye,” in black and white, but now fans have the chance to see their favorite episodes from the first two seasons follow suit. The later half of season 2 has yet to be schedule, but we should expect those episodes to air eventually.
- Feb. 14, 6:30 p.m. – Episode 101
- Feb. 14, 8 p.m. – Episode 102
- Feb. 21, 8 p.m. – Episode 103
- Feb. 28, 8 p.m. – Episode 104
- March 7, 8 p.m. – Episode 105
- March 14, 8 p.m. – Episode 106
- March 21, 7:30 p.m. – Episode 201
- April 4, 8 p.m. – Episode 202
- April 11, 8 p.m. – Episode 203
- April 18, 8 p.m. – Episode 204
- April 25, 8 p.m. – Episode 205
- May 2, 8 p.m. – Episode 206
Nothing within the content of the episodes will change, only the visual presentation. I have not seen The Mist or”Days Gone Bye” yet in black and white, so I am curious as to how it will effect the viewing experience.
What a lovely way to spend your Valentine’s Day, right? Will you be tuning in for the black and white rebroadcast of The Walking Dead?
Season 3 of The Walking Dead will return on Sunday, February 10.
