The Walking Dead Season 3 Part 2 Begins February 10

The Walking Dead Season 3 Part 2

The wait is finally over. Season 3 Part 2 of The Walking Dead begins tomorrow, Sunday, February 10 on AMC. After the adrenaline rush witnessed in the first half, we can only expect things will get better; or in the case of the survivors, worse. After the jump, check out a one-minute preview trailer of season 3 part 2 along with some screenshots and promo images.

Assume there will be spoilers ahead.(I’m not sure why you would read this if you haven’t seen the first half of season 3 yet.)

The Walking Dead has been a roller coaster of a series. The first season gave us a fair introduction, while the second season fell short. But like the Phoenix, TWD arose from the ashes and awoke a brand new show. With faster pacing, better characterization, and greater threat levels than ever before, season 3 has been a tremendous breath of fresh air.

When we last left out survivors, Rick, Daryl, a throw away character, and Michonne followed through with a full scale invasion to rescue Maggie and Glen. It goes without saying, things got messy. And although our friends accomplished their mission – along with a secret vendetta led by Michonne – Daryl was captured and left in the hands of the Governor.

Back at the prison, Carl put on his big boy pants and rescued some new visitors – one of which a fan favorite from the comic, Tyrese. This new gang of survivors conveniently found a back entrance; unbeknownst that there were already some residents in the facilities. Carl welcomed them in, but took what he learned from his father and kept them at a safe distance.

There’s a lot of questions left wide open for the remaining 8 episodes of this season. Take a brief look at what’s ahead tomorrow night:

The intensity looks like it will keep flowing and as most Dead fans know, there will be no happy endings at the end of the road. Here is the plot synopsis of episode 9, “Suicide King”:

Rick tries to rescue a member of his group. Woodbury is in disarray after a recent attack. New guests raise concerns at the prison.

It’s a pretty straightforward description but based on the ominous teaser poster below, perhaps Rick may be losing an eye. (Click on the thumbnails below to enlarge the images)

(HEAVY COMIC SPOILERS) For those caught up to the current 106th issue – 107th coming February 7th – we know that Rick loses his hand to the Governor, but so far our fearless leader has not even met the man. Assuming the poster above is literal, it won’t be Carl losing an eye, it will be Rick instead. I am placing a lot of faith after what we’ve seen so far and very excited to see what’s next.

The Walking Dead returns with episode 9 of season 3, “The Suicide King,” this Sunday, February 10 at 9/8c.
