Box Office Battlefield: A Serious Man, Whip It, Zombieland, and The Invention of Lying

battle field

There is only one movie you need to see this weekend of October 2, 2009, and that film is ZOMBIELAND! I’ll tell you the other movies, but it won’t make a difference

Capitalism: A Love Story (Michael Moore)Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore sets out to uncover the truth behind the current economic crisis with interviews from Wall Street and government insiders.Another Michael Moore film on the US Govt, Rent it

A Serious Man (Michael Stuhlbarg, Richard Kind, Sari Lennick)A black comedy set in 1967 and centered on Larry Gopnik (Stuhlbarg), a Midwestern professor who watches his life unravel when his wife prepares to leave him because his inept brother (Kind) won’t move out of the house.I have no idea what this movie is. Skip It

Whip It (Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Wiig) In Bodeen, Texas, indie-rock loving misfit Bliss Cavendar (Page) finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin. Should be decent, although I dislike Barrymore, and I’m sure I’m not alone on that. But if you already see Zombieland this weekend, go see this movie. See This After Zombieland

The Invention of Lying (Ricky Gervais) A comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain. A light brisk little comedy with hints of Liar Liar but do a complete 180°. It could be good, but may be dry and pushing hard for laughs. Rent It/See it after Zombieland

ZOMBIELAND (Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson) In a world overrun by zombies, a guy described as “the most frightened person on Earth” (Eisenberg) musters the courage to lead a band of refugees on a cross-country pilgrimage to an amusement park where they think they’ll be safe. There is no other movie that you need to see this weekend. This is a great smart horror comedy that pleases to all audiences. This awesome buddy comedy sheds a new light on the walking dead and with whimsical ties to Shaun of the Dead and great actor chemistry, this is the one movie that you need to see this Fall.

SEE THIS EFFIN’ MOVIE!!!
