Don’t get your hopes up this holiday season as to which movies you want to see. I’ll tell you which you shouldn’t because there are a lot that you shouldn’t until later this holiday season. The weekend of December 4, 2009 you better find something else to do unless you live in a bigger city that plays limited films.
Armored (Columbus Short, Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne) A newbie guard for an armored truck company is coerced by his veteran coworkers to steal a truck containing $42 million. But a wrinkle in their supposedly foolproof plan divides the group, leading to a potentially deadly resolution.
My Take: This movie looks like an absolute joke with an uncreative title. SKIP THIS ONE AND NEVER SEE IT EVER NOT EVEN IF ITS ON F/X
Brothers (Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire) Sam Cahill (Maguire) returns from being held as a prisoner-of-war in Afghanistan to find that his ex-con brother (Gyllenhaal) has become the man, of sorts, of the household where Sam’s wife, Grace (Portman) had been living under the assumption that she was a widow.
My Take: Looks interesting with a good cast, but lacks a certain element that makes this film desirable to want to go see it. Rent it
Everybody’s Fine (Robert De Niro, Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, Drew Barrymore) A widower (De Niro) takes an impromptu road trip in order to reconnect with his grown children, only to discover that his family members are living far from perfect lives.
My Take: Another star studded cast that has a quirky holiday family plot, but again nothing to jump out of the seat to go see. Rent it
Up In The Air – Limited (Wide release 12/25) (George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick) Ryan Bingham (Clooney) is a corporate-downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.
My Take: Declared Best Picture of the Year by certain critics and I can see why. From Director Jason Reitman (Juno and Thank You For Smoking), this film brings everything to the table and leaves nothing out. This film looks funny, full of emotion, great acting and Jason Reitman proves again he can do his job. SEE THIS MOVIE
Transylmania I dont even want to bother, NEVER SEE THIS MOVIE
