At first look I wasn’t sure if I was looking at thumbnails of the trailer, but upon a closer look, this is in fact the first poster for Terrence Mallick’s The Tree of Life starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. This very beautiful poster is elegantly composed and full of mystery. It may not give any great detail about what this film is exactly about, but there is a certain chaotic grace among all of the stills from the film. Check out the entire poster after the jump!

Written and directed by Malick, the film stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain and tells the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950’s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.
