Many of which who are excited for the next Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross collaboration for David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will not have to wait much longer. The full release of the film’s score will be available December 9, but those who are impatient can nab a free six-song sampler of some of the tracks off the new album.
Anyone who watched David Fincher‘s The Social Network last year were graced with the incredible sound of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The duo composed the score that earned them the Oscar for Best Original Score. Reznor and Ross are back again to collaborate with David Fincher for a frightening sound for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Reznor recently posted on his blog to share his take on the album and the opportunities in which fans can purchase it. Anyone is welcome to preview six songs before December 9 as well by following the links to download the sampler:
For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher’s “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus that I am happy to announce is available for pre-order right now for as low as $11.99. The full release will be available in one week – December 9th.
You have two options right now:
VIsit iTunes here where you can immediately download Karen O’s and our version of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” when you pre-order the soundtrack for $11.99.
You will also be able to exclusively watch the legendary 8-minute trailer you may have heard about (no purchase necessary obviously). We scored this trailer separately from the film, BTW.Or…

There is still a digital influence to the music in TGWTDT much like The Social Network, but you can tell a big difference in tone. The score is hauntingly different. Something about this score sounds a lot more mature and I can sense the presence of the sick and twisted story behind TGWTDT that has influenced Reznor and Ross.
I predict, like The Social Network, that this score will fit perfectly to the ambiance of what The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be focused on. This is a much darker and horrifying story than TSN, and I can rest assured knowing that what Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have produced will have a great impact on how the film will play out during Oscar season.
David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, will be coming to a theater near you December 21, 2011.
