Comic-Con 2012 Here I Come

San Diego Comic-Con 2012

Reality is setting in. I’m going to Comic-Con 2012. This year it will be from Thursday, July 12 through Sunday, July 15. After the exhausting, yet exciting, adventures I had at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA last month, I can’t even imagine how chaotic and stimulating Comic-Con will be.

Like E3, this will be my first time to Comic-Con. I have always watched from afar in the comfort of my home, viewing the live coverage on G4TV, but this time I will be in the lion’s den. I have no idea what to expect. E3 was a closed off industry event that lasted three days. Comic-Con is one day longer, open to the public, and estimated to have over twice as many attendees.

As I sit here and try and plan ahead, I realize how futile it is. I was able to walk around downtown San Diego last year – that’s where I met the crew from Screen Rant/Game Rantso I know the event isn’t contained just within the convention center itself. But from all the horror stories I’ve heard about people being stabbed, waiting in long lines, and all the other craziness involved, it makes me wonder what exactly I’m getting myself into.

Press releases have already found their way into my inbox and I’m already anticipating what I may see. I’d love to catch a glimpse of what’s on the floor for The Hobbit, try and run into the cast of Community, andcheck out what Marvel has in store before The Avengers.

Since I’ll be covering more gaming news for GR, that doesn’t give me a lot of time to pay attention to everything else – but that’s OK. I am really just looking to go for the experience of it all because who knows if this will be my only chance to attend. I can’t rely on other people to get me in for the rest of my life.

Look out Comic-Con, I’m coming for ya!
