Camilla Luddington will Voice Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

Tomb Raider Lara Croft Camilla Luddington

Now that video game studios have had a second to breathe after the wild ride at E3 2012, a vital piece of the Tomb Raider puzzle has been recently announced. The voice actress behind the famous adventurer has been revealed and you can find out more about Camilla Luddington after the break!

When most men these days think of the Lara Croft there are two images that come to mind: the top-heavy, gun wielding game character from Eidos and Angelina Jolie. In Crystal Dynamics’ version, we see none of that. Of course the iconic game starlet has some ample gals accompanying her, but this journey is more about establishing character.

We’ve seen Ms. Croft in action within the recent E3 2012 trailer, and she had some dialogue during the E3 2012 presentation. Until now there has been no hint as to who we would give credit to the new Lara, but now Crystal Dynamics has unleashed Camilla Luddington unto the gaming populous.

If you’ve seen her on TV, you may recognize Camilla from such shows as True Bloodand Californication. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think she was a yank like most of us reading this post, but what you’d come to find out is that she is actually a native Brit. Her accent has been a bit lost over the years, but believe me, she is true to her roots – she even got to play Kate Middleton in the  made-for-TV movie William & Kate.

It was a long casting process to find the right talent to voice the vivacious game legend, but according to Square Enix, Luddington embodied equal parts “depth of emotion and the youthful tone needed for Lara Croft.”

If you’re heading to Comic-Con 2012, you may find yourself face to face with the lovely actress. And boy is she lovely. Just look at this picture:

You can find Camilla Luddington with Zachary Levi at his Nerd HQ during the convention describing her experience as the new Lara.

Tomb Raider releases March 5, 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
