Fish out of water stories are only as great as the message a film is trying to convey, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not afraid to get into dirty politics. Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo that that brought You, Me, and Dupree have found a new line of work in action movies. It’s clear from the teaser trailer that this will be one of the best times in the theater you will have next year. Watch the trailer after the break.
Since the name, The Winter Soldier dropped on Marvel fans at Comic-Con 2012 moviegoers have been waiting anxiously for the first glimpse of the man, the myth, the legend himself. If you were lucky enough to find a seat in Hall H at SDCC or attend D23 Expo this year, you’d have seen the exclusive footage of The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Now EVERYONE has the chance. And not only do we get to see The Winter Soldier in action, but appearances from Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and even The Falcon (Anthony Mackie).
There is a lot going on in the trailer below, but the message is clear, Captain America is not in the 1940s anymore. Politics of war and keeping the peace have changed. In the trailer, Rogers has brief interactions with SHIELD’s Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) and Fury discussing Captain America’s responsibilities in the new world he inhabits. Check out the trailer:
Although some of the footage within the trailer was shown during Comic-Con and D23 Expo previously this year, a good majority of it is new. And that ending. What a way to cap off a teaser. It will be interesting to see how many details about the Winter Soldier Marvel Studios will give audiences in the following trailers and promos. I would like a taste to see where they are taking Bucky and Cap’s relationship, but not enough to spoil the twist, turns, and complications that will ensue.
