With an all star cast and enough tension you could cut with a knife, Prisoners has become one of the most talked about movies of the year. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced today that the film will release on DVD and Blu-Ray December 17, 2013. Just in time for the holiday season, join Hugh Jackman as he suffers through the moral consequences of the actions he takes in order to find his missing daughter. See what you can expect to find in terms of special features after the jump.
Currently, Prisoners is sitting very pretty at 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which kind of baffles me. Not because I dislike the film, I swing more neutral-positive, but I’ve heard more mixed reviews than anything. Hugh Jackman’s character may go from zero to extreme a little too hastily, but Prisoners is a decent cop procedural with highly engaging twists and turns. And despite the long run time of two and a half hours, there is never a dull moment that allows your mind to wander. (Watch the trailer here.)
The Prisoners Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD contain the following special features:
- Prisoners – Every Moment Matters
- Prisoners – Powerful Performances
If you did not have the chance to watch Prisoners in theaters here is a brief plot synopsis courtesy of Warner Bros.:
How far would you go to protect your family? Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano), but a lack of evidence forces his release.
As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child’s life is at stake the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family?
Prisoners releases on home video Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD, and digital download on December 17.
