The Netflix Streaming Report: Haunter, The Summit, Bridezillas, and More

The Streaming Report Haunter, The Summit, Bridezillas, and More

Welcome to The Streaming Report for February 13, 2014, a weekly feature that suggests newly uploaded Netflix Instant  movies and shows that may tickle your fancy. After the long week on the grind you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix has been kind enough to supply us with Haunter, The Summit, Bridezillas, and more you’ll find after the break. We hope The Streaming Report will bring you hours of entertainment for your viewing pleasure.

Haunter (Vincenzo Natali) The ghost of a teenager who died years ago reaches out to the land of the living in order to save someone from suffering her same fate. Starring Abigail Breslin, Stephen McHattie, and David Hewlett

I just watched this last night and it is quite the interesting spin on the haunted house genre. Haunter invites a lot of new ideas to the horror game and infuses a good hearty mix of mystery and suspense. Abigail Breslin does a nice job as our leading lady who must unravel the mystery of her own death. Vincenzo Natali (Splice; Cube) has always brought out the good in original concepts and doesn’t fail here. It can get a little meandering and cheesy, and sometimes a bit convoluted, but otherwise it’s a solid lazy Sunday watch.

The Summit (Nick Ryan)  The story of the deadliest day on the world’s most dangerous mountain, when 11 climbers mysteriously perished on K2. Starring Christine Barnes, Hoselito Bite, and Marco Confortola

Documentary meets recreation in this pretty intense looking true story about a little stroll on K2. If you want crazy dramatization along with your documentary, The Summit is right up your alley.

Brother Bear (Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker) When a young Inuit hunter needlessly kills a bear, he is magically changed into a bear himself as punishment with a talkative cub being his only guide to changing back. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez, and Rick Moranis

Where else are you going to find Rick Moranis in a movie with Joaquin Phoenix, honestly? Have you gotten enough bear transformation stories after Brave? Brother Bear will fix that right up for you.

Bridezillas (Season 10) Bridezillas is an American reality television series that airs on WE tv and debuted on June 1, 2004. It chronicles the lives of women engaged to be married, casting their busy schedules in an emphatic and sometimes humorous fashion Starring Mindy Burbano

For those who love their reality TV, why not indulge on a little Bridezillas? Wedding season is coming quicker than I can handle at the moment, but for those who can stomach it, check this show out.

What will you be watching this weekend? Look forward to more renditions of The Streaming Report every Thursday on TTRC.
