Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe premiered last night on ABC, showcasing concept art of upcoming projects: Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man. If you missed the one-hour special premiere, Marvel has released the artwork online for all to see, which includes first looks at The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Check it out after the jump.
Although we will be seeing Quicksilver in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, portrayed by Evan Peters, Joss Whedon has other plans for the superhero. A sigh of relief was swept over fans as he was not portrayed as a hipster, goggle wearing tart when he made his debut on the cover of Empire Magazine for DOFP. Not only does Quicksilver (Aaron Johnson) look much more like his comic book self, his sister Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), has a costume update that is definitely more realistic than her revealing comic book attire.

The rest of the artwork isn’t much to get too excited about other than the Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster armor taking on the Hulk. Whether that will happen in Age of Ultron or not is yet to be revealed. The Ant-Man concept art has been seen previously from test footage which was received with much glee.
It goes without saying, Marvel Studios has come up with one of the most daring cinematic franchise moviegoers will ever experience. Building from the ground up, producer Kevin Feige explained in Assembling a Universe that it was a difficult task starting up:
“We were tasked with doing two movies right off the bat. We chose Hulk because we believed there was more to be showcased out of the character and we chose Iron Man because we believed in the content and the concept.”
But according to Marvel executive producer Jeremy Latcham no one else did:
“30 writers passed on Iron Man“
When the credits roll on Avengers: Age of Ultron Marvel’s Phase 2 of their Cinematic Universe will come to a close. As far as we know Ant-Man will kick off Phase 3 along with a few rumored titles – Black Widow, Thor 3, Captain America 3, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange – leading up to The Avengers 3 which will feature the infamous Thanos. Marvel Studios has also partnered with Netflix to begin production on four individual series of superheroes from Hell’s Kitchen, New York – Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Dare Devil – which will bring together all four heroes into a fifth series called The Defenders. Hey DC Entertainment, where you at?
Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters April 4, 2014; Guardians of the Galaxy opens in theaters on August 1, 2014; Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in theaters on May 1, 2015; and Ant-Man will make his big screen debut on July 17, 2015.
