Sony Pictures is proud to release the final trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Directed by Marc Webb, we revisit the wall-crawler played by Andrew Garfield, who must juggle his life between Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and being Spider-Man. Watch the full trailer after the break and see what you can come to expect when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives in theaters on May 2.
(Spoilers beware, this trailer pretty much lays out the entire movie)
When I told you to watch the trailer to see what you can come to expect in the movie, I meant that literally because this trailer basically outlines the entire story for you. Even the first trailer gives away most of what the film is about and will show us this May. If you’re on the fence about the film, all you really need to do is check out this trailer. Peter Parker is at odds with his love life, keeping his identity a secret, and saving the innocent people of New York from Electro (Jamie Foxx), the Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and the Green Goblin aka Harry Osborn (Dane Dehann).
I’m quite befuddled by the amount of footage and story they are releasing in the marketing. Didn’t they learn that they shouldn’t show all of their cards on the table at once? The first Amazing Spider-Man only opened to the tune of $62 million domestically. That’s not great in the world of superhero movies. I’m sure folks weren’t that thrilled of a reboot of a superhero that was recently on screen less than 10 years ago, but showing us the whole movie won’t pique our interest as well. The only thing that catches my attention is the detail in action. I think that’s the only thing this new series of Spider-Man films have going for it is the visual aesthetic of the action and web-slinging.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for The Amazing Spider -Man 2 via Apple Trailers:
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
Will The Amazing Spider-Man 2 be overstuffed with plot and villains like Spider-Man 3 or has Marc Webb found the perfect formula for creating the perfect superhero movie?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits cinemas May 2, 2013 in 2D and 3D.
