Today Universal Studios Orlando has released new video footage of the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride. Capitalizing off the hype of the entire franchise of Harry Potter, Universal Studios has been diligently working at creating additional features for this mythological theme park. The first two-minute teaser for the ride above has just been released and for roller coaster fans and Harry Potter fans alike it is sure to not disappoint. Watch it after the jump.
The video is quite vague in terms of whether Escape from Gringotts will be a full-fledged roller coaster or part interactive video experience. But this teaser sure is intriguing and leaves me eager to visit the Wizard World of Harry Potter once Diagon Alley, the much anticipated park expansion, is opens this summer. In an exclusive interview with /Film, Alan Gilmore, the Art Director of the Harry Potter films and Universal Orlando’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter had this to say about the ride:
“It’s a bit like the first Harry Potter ride. [Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey] Many guests found the queue experience was so good they thought it was the ride, then they went on the real ride as well. So we’ve kinda done that again. The queue is a full experience in itself. It’s quite nice that people who get to the ride and be like, “oh my god there’s more.” You get to experience the unfolding of the story, which is really cool.” Alan Gilmore, Art Director of the Harry Potter films and Universal’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.”
Universal Creative Studios Senior Vice President Thierry Coup spoke with the Orlando Sentinel, stating:
“We wanted the level of thrills that Forbidden Journey has but maybe make it more visual than physical in some ways, trying to strike the right balance,” Coup said. New projector technology and a nearly 360-degree screen will help immerse riders in the story at one point, he said. “The time you spend in each scene with the characters is greater than we’ve been able to achieve in any ride,” Coup said. “It’s really going to give you the sense of being there with your favorite characters.”
To much excitement to my ears, fans of the Harry Potter franchise will be pleased that Bellatrix (Helena Bonham Carter) and Griphook (Warwick Davis) are not the only ones reprising their roles for the creation of this ride. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have all been confirmed to appear too!
Will you be adventuring to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to check out the new ride this summer?
