The Netflix Streaming Report: Thanks for Sharing, Dead Silence, and More

Thanks for Sharing Movie 2013

Welcome to your Netflix Streaming Report for August 21, 2014. After the long week you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix Watch Instant has been kind enough to supply us with Thanks For Sharing, Dead Silence, and more, which you’ll find after the break.

Thanks for Sharing (Stuart Blumberg) A romantic comedy that brings together three disparate characters who are learning to face a challenging and often confusing world as they struggle together against a common demon: sex addiction. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Josh Gad, Alecia Moore, and Gwyneth Paltrow

Despite the decent cast, Thanks for Sharing is a pretty boring and uninteresting film. You would think a movie about sex addiction would be a little more titillating, but it’s rather the opposite. There are too many stories happening at once, and I would have preferred a quirky comedy with just Josh Gad and Pink. Ruffalo and Paltrow sunk this film faster than that iceberg that took down the Titanic.

Dead Silence (James Wan) A widower returns to his hometown to search for answers to his wife’s murder, which may be linked to the ghost of a murdered ventriloquist. Starring Ryan Kwanten, Amber Valletta, and Donnie Wahlberg

If you’ve been loving James Wan’s recent work – The Conjuring and Insidious – you might want to check out one of his first flicks after he got out of the Saw franchise. It’s not great, but an interesting look at how far he’s come.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series (Season 1) (Robert Rodriguez) A Texas Ranger is in hot pursuit of the infamous Gecko brothers. Starring D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, and Eiza González

And for those who love Robert Rodriguez and Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn, this new series promises all the vampy goodness of the film. I haven’t seen it, but maybe if you are sad with the loss of True Blood, this may fill the void?

Here’s a few titles that also recently have become available on Netflix Watch Instant:

  • Happy Valley (Season 1)
  • Criminal Minds (Seasons 1-9)
  • The Way Back (2010)
  • Great Expectations

What will you be watching this weekend?

Look forward to more new titles from The Streaming Report every Thursday on TTRC. We hope you enjoy!
