The long-awaited live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan inches one step closer to actualization as the first character posters reveal the cast in full costume. This is our first official glimpse of how the film intends to accurately portray the highly celebrated anime series. Mirroring its epic nature, these posters do the characters justice with incredibly matching gear and uniforms. Check out all 13 posters after the break.
Revealed through these posters, Attack on Titan stars Haruma Miura as Eren Jaeger, Kiko Mizuhara as Mikasa Ackerman, Kanata Hongo as Armin Arlert, Satomi Ishihara as Hanji Zoe, Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha Braus, and Takahiro Miura as Jean Kirschtein. This is the cast of existing characters who live within the pages of the manga as well as the anime series.
The live-action adaptation will also bring about original characters, including Hiroki Hasegawa as Shikishima, Ayame Misaki as Hiana, Pierre Taki as Souda, Jun Kunimura as Kubal, Shu Watanabe as Fukushi, Satoru Matsuo as Sannagi, and Rina Takeda as Lil.
As far as movie posters go, they are your standard action poses. But they really capture each character well. It’s amazing to look at these and see how closely fans have been able to resemble their beloved characters though cosplay.

How these new additions will play into the story has not yet been revealed, but the series is so vast I’m sure they’ll have a place for them. According to Sanspo, Shikishima will hold the key to the film’s story as “humanity’s strongest man.” I’m not quite sure how to grasp that statement because he doesn’t exist in the books and neither does that story arc. What also tickles me is why they didn’t include other noteworthy characters such as Reiner, Annie, Bertolt, Marco, and Krista among others. And furthermore, producer Yoshihiro Sato stated that he didn’t bother casting actors based on how closely they resembled the characters from the book, but rather focused on obtaining stars who captured the character’s “spirits.”
Spoiler Theory [Highlight text with cursor to reveal]: As a fan, and I’m going to assume most fans are with me on this, these new characters will be treated as throwaway characters for the Titans to eat so their deaths can bring about some sort of narrative impact on the main characters. End Spoiler.
Here is the official plot synopsis for Attack on Titan:
100 years ago, titans suddenly appeared on Earth. Soon, human civilization veered on collapse due to the titans. Humans then built a giant wall to defend themselves. Within the giant walls, humans lived in peace, but, 100 years later, the giant wall is broken.
Directed by Shinji Higuchi, both Attack on Titan films are set to release in Japan in summer 2015.
