‘Goosebumps’ Movie Monsters Officially Revealed and More

Goosebumps Movie Monsters

Columbia Pictures has unveiled many of its monsters in their upcoming Goosebumps movie starring Jack Black. The film isn’t releasing until April 2016, but the studio has kicked off a “Create a Meme” contest utilizing some of the infamously notorious monsters from the R.L. Stine’s classic book series. Get your first look after the break.

Growing up, from what I can remember, I had read pretty much all of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books. I would pick one up at every Scholastic book fair when I was in elementary school. One of the reasons why I love horror movies. The plot, inherently, sounds like a Goosebump book itself. The bizarre nature and wacky hijinks mixed with some frightening monsters, but only this time it’s the nightmares founded from the books.

Below you’ll find many of the iconic villains from such books as Night of the Living Dummy (Slappy the Dummy), Help! We Have Strange Powers! (Madame Doom), Creep from the Deep (Captain Ben), The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight (Scarecrow), Vampire Breath (Count Nightwing), A Night in Terror Tower (Lord High Executioner), Return of the Mummy (The Mummy), Attack of the Jack O’Lanterns (Pumpkinhead), and When the Ghost Dog Howls (Murder the Clown). There are also a few new screenshots from the film as well.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Goosebumps:

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Directed by Rob Letterman, Goosebumps stars Jack Black, Amy Ryan, Ken Marino, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Jillian Bell and Ryan Lee.

Goosebumps hits theaters in April 2016.
