Welcome to your Netflix Streaming Report for April 9, 2015. After the long week you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix Watch Instant has been kind enough to supply us with Starry Eyes, Life Partners, The Quiet Ones, Iron Chef America, and more, which you can find after the jump.
Wilfred (Season 4) (Jason Gann and Adam Zwar) Rated TV-MA [30 min] – The story of a manic depressive man who inexplicably is the only one who can see his neighbor’s dog as a full grown man in a dog suit. Starring Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, and Fiona Gubelmann
As I stated earlier this week, since this season is now available to own, this show has got really dark in its final moments, and overly convoluted. I’ve become really uninterested and am just powering through because I’m a completionist. Luckily they are short 20ish minute episodes that go by very quickly, but what was once just a silly show about a man who sees a man dressed up as a dog dissolved into a dizzying spiral of ridiculousness and weak plot direction. The first two seasons are great though!

The Quiet Ones (John Pogue) Rated PG-13 [98 min] – A university professor and a team of students conduct an experiment on a young woman, uncovering terrifyingly dark, unexpected forces in the process. Starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Olivia Cooke, and Erin Richards
The Quiet Ones is as boring as the GIF above. It’s hardly frightening and doesn’t provide anything new to the supernatural genre that horror fans, or even general audiences, will find appealing.

Starry Eyes (Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer) Not Rated [98 min] – A hopeful young starlet uncovers the ominous origins of the Hollywood elite and enters into a deadly agreement in exchange for fame and fortune. Starring Alex Essoe, Amanda Fuller, Noah Sega, Fabianne Therese, and Shane Coffey
I’ve seen a lot of rave review headlines for Starry Eyes, which caught my attention last year. But unfortunately it was in very limited release. I’m happy to see it’s now on Netflix and will check it out this weekend.

Life Partners (Susanna Fogel) Rated R [93 min] – Sasha and Paige’s co-dependent friendship is tested as Paige gets serious with a guy for the first time. Starring Leighton Meester, Gillian Jacobs, and Adam Brody
The womance between Gillian Jacobs and Leight Meester’s charaters is playful and fun, but also real honest and human. There are the traditional indie tropes that leave breadcrumbs to see the story’s plot from a mile away. However, Life Partners is still a quick, enjoyable little watch for a rainy day.
