Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (Bluepoint Games) [Available for PlayStation 4 on October 9] – Experience one of the most revered game series of all time as you follow the perilous journey of Nathan Drake across the globe, from humble beginnings to extraordinary discoveries. Meet an unforgettable cast of characters as Drake puts life and friendship on the line in a race against ruthless enemies to uncover unimaginable treasure. UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection includes the singleplayer campaigns for UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, and UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception.
This trilogy of games, alone, is enough reason to throw your Xbox in the trash and run to the store to get a PlayStation 4. Although Among Thieves is wildly better than Drake’s Deception, all the games in the Uncharted franchise provide hours of gripping entertainment.
Key features include:
- Unparalleled Story
- New Trophies
- Photo Mode
- UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End Multiplayer Beta
Rock Band 4 (Harmonix) [Available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One] – Building upon the full-band experience people love, Rock Band 4 delivers innovative new features – allowing you to add your personal signature to every performance. Combining next-gen visuals, an expansive soundtrack featuring some of rock’s biggest acts, compatibility with your previously purchased DLC and wireless legacy Rock Band guitars and drums, Rock Band 4 is creating the defining music gaming platform for this generation.
I’ve never played Rock Band, only Guitar Hero. These games are fun to a point, but I get bored easily, especially when you’re limited with a handful of songs. But it’s been a long time since I last played Guitar Hero I wouldn’t say no to playing Rock Band 4 with these advancements and wide selection of songs.
Key features include:
- Freestyle Guitar Solos
- Dynamic Drum Fills
- Vocal Improvisation
- New Stage Presence Feature
- More than 60 tracks
- More than 1500 songs available for download
- Use the Instruments You Already Own
- New story campaign
- Start A Band up to four players
- Keep the party going with the new “Shows” mode
Transformers: Devastation (Platinum Games) [Available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC] – The Transformers are back, and this time they’re in the hands of acclaimed developer PlatinumGames, who has married their over-the-top, stylish action with a major dose of nostalgia to create a Transformers game like none other. The Autobots face off against Decepticons when Megatron discovers a way to harness the enormous power of Plasma Energy to Cyberform Earth.
I love the classic Generation 1 Transformers, and I’m an even bigger fan that Platinum Games chose to use them for this game. It looks kinda fun, but the button smashing action looks a bit tedious.
Key features include:
- Surprise your enemy with instant robot to vehicle attacks, slam downs, counterattacks, and infinite combos
- Five playable Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock
- Actors from the original TV series
- 5 difficulty levels with overhauls in enemy composition, combined with a deep customization system
