Welcome to your Netflix Streaming Report for January 28, 2016. After the long week you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix Watch Instant has been kind enough to supply us with Turbo Kid, Chelsea Does, Sharknado 3, and more. Turbo Kid (François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell) Unrated [1h 32min] – In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a comic book fan dons the persona of his favourite hero to save his enthusiastic friend and fight a tyrannical overlord. Starring Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf, Michael Ironside, Edwin Wright, and Aaron Jeffrey

While I appreciate the originality and triumphant gore, Turbo Kid has a pacing problem. Despite being a fun, Mad Max-esque, post-apocalyptic wasteland story, the movie feels low on energy. There’s a lot of charisma oozing from each of the actors, the production and costume designs are fun, and the special effects are fantastic, but the movie runs at a snail’s pace. It’s definitely one to check out if you have some spare time.

The first film will always be a novelty that sparked an unforeseen craze of fandom, but now three movies deep Sharknado has lost its charm. You can say to yourself that it’s so bad it’s good, but it seems they aren’t even trying hard enough to reach that level and this sequel is just bad. So bad, luckily, you’ll want to turn it off and get to the chilling as soon as possible.
