Production has begun on Deadpool 2 according to Ryan Reynolds who served up a tasty Tweet that teased fans of the Merc with a Mouth’s whereabouts. The actor posted a photo of himself suited up in character lying in front of the Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. While he is not donning his beloved Hello Kitty backpack to get his knowledge on, fans must be wondering why he is showing up to the X-Mansion for the sequel.
The Hatley Castle in British Columbia, Canada, has become famous for its appearance in film and television of late. Most superhero fans will know it as the X-Mansion or Oliver Queen’s home in The CW’s Arrow. The famous landmark also appeared briefly in the first Deadpool film where he came to recruit Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) to help him on his quest to get his girlfriend back.
We already know that Negasonic and Colussus will return for the sequel, but which other mutants can we expect to find amidst the school? As Deadpool already stated that the first film had no budget to cast additional X-Men, perhaps its success has granted more liberties to include new mutants to appear.
It has already been confirmed that Josh Brolin has been cast as Nathan Summers aka Cable as well as Zazi Beetz as Nee Thurman aka Domino. Both mutants are part of X-Force, which is supposedly getting a movie of their own down the line. Will they be at the X-Mansion? Doubtful.
Little details have been provided as to where Deadpool 2 will lead our anti-hero, but if Cable is involved, perhaps a little time traveling may take place. One could only hope to see Wade Wilson become a time traveler with Cable.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Josh Brolin, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Zazie Beetz, and Jack Kesy. The film is set to debut on June 1, 2018.
