Shutter Island

A new Martin Scorsese film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio about a remote island for the criminally insane. This psychological thriller/drama/mystery seems to be interestingly enough to post about so I suggest you look at the trailer posted. The film comes out October 2nd:

Sorry Tonto, I’m Jack Sparrow, love

Johnny Depp’s role as Tonto in the future Lone Ranger film will have to wait because Disney would rather him focus on Pirates 4 first. Comingsoon.net had a chance to interview Jerry Bruckheimer while he is in the middle of The Sorcerer In the Stone and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. This new Pirates of the Caribbean, from what rumors I’ve read from past tales of yonder, will not cast Kiera and Bloom and delve into a completely different trilogy story, which I think is a good plan. I just hope Depp goes back to his Black Pearl roots and that the writers learn from Black Pearl and not try so hard.

Eli Roth creates a Funhouse?

So Eli Roth is in talks of remaking the Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ’74) The Funhouse. I’m kind of excited about this because I enjoy Eli Roth’s horror work (Hostel 1&2, Cabin Fever). Roth is also in talks of possibly doing the Thanksgiving and Endangered Species movies from that short faux trailers from the Grindhouse movie. I think Roth could make this into a fun horror that could bring in a few good fans of the genre. We’ll just have to wait and see………

Here is the original trailer of The Funhouse:

Xenu Meets J.J. Abrams

Premiere+Valkyrie+After+Party+B6dnIIXjs6Kl

Soooooo……… according to /Film, J.J. Abrams told TV Guide that he will be in fact be attached to produce the new Mission: Impossible 4 movie that is in the works. Now I have never seen M:I 2 or 3, nor would I really want to, but I hope J.J. Abrams is ready to handle all that is the almighty Tom Cruise again since he directed M:I 3. Who knows, maybe this won’t be too bad………Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) also wrote M:I 3 so maybe they might be writing, doubt it, but who knows?!?

The Artwork of Tim Burton

art_of_tim_burton-440x339

Coming soon, check out the art work of Time Burton in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

“This major career retrospective on Tim Burton (American, b. 1958), consisting of a gallery exhibition and a film series, considers Burton’s career as a director, producer, writer, and concept artist for live-action and animated films, along with his work as a fiction writer, photographer and illustrator. Following the current of his visual imagination from his earliest childhood drawing through his mature work, the exhibition presents artwork generated during the conception and production of his films, and highlights a number of unrealized projects and never-before-seen pieces, as well as student art, his earliest non-professional films, and examples of his work as a storyteller and graphic artist for non-film projects. The opposing themes of adolescence and adulthood, and the elements of sentiment, cynicism, and humor inform his work in a variety of mediums—drawings, paintings, storyboards, digital and moving-image formats, puppets and maquettes, props, costumes, ephemera, sketchbooks, and cartoons. Taking inspiration from sources in pop culture, Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking as a spiritual experience, influencing a generation of young artists working in film, video, and graphics.

Burton’s films include Vincent (1982), Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985), Beetlejuice (1988), Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Batman Returns (1992), The Nightmare Before Christmas (as creator and producer) (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Mars Attacks! (1996), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Big Fish (2003), Corpse Bride (2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), and Sweeney Todd (2007); writing and Web projects include The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories (1997) and Stainboy (2000).” (MoMA)

Viewers Beware, Don’t Let IMAX Fool You!!!!

IMAX Comparison

IMAX has been creating miniIMAX screens all over the country and those bastards are capitalizing by fooling people into believing that these are actually legitimate 70mm IMAX screens. Although they are branded and owned by IMAX, they are not the same size. IMAX is a 76′ x 97′ screen while minIMAX (not official name) is 28′ x 58′ feet, a 4.5x difference in sizes (Click on the picture above).

How do they fool you and steal your money? By pushing the screen closer to your face. The result is the optical illusion of a huge screen that takes over your entire visual range.

IMAX Comparison 2

SO… before you go to the IMAX to go see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen or any other IMAX movie check out this list to make sure your theater is the correct size. (Thanks TF Live).

Go See: ‘The Goods’…

Although I despise Jeremy Piven, I do believe this movie looks kinda funny and should be seen when it comes out to theaters.
