Get Buried in this Trailer

The official trailer for Ryan Reynolds new thriller, Buried, was recently released attached to A Nightmare on Elm Street. This low budget indie film caught the eye of Lionsgate at the Sundance film festival this year when it won over audiences with its unique story and dare I say set design? Not since The Descent have we really gotten a film to capture the essence of a classic case of claustrophobia.

Synopsis: Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time- fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.

People Are Diggin’ ‘Buried’

Ryan Reynolds’ new film, Buried, is getting so much hype from this years Sundance Film Festival. Buried‘s only star and actor is Ryan Reynolds; there are other people in the film, but more like voice actors. The film is a Rodrigo Cortés directed film written by Chris Spelling; a bit of unknown talent as far as the film industry goes. Paul (Reynolds) is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

After the official screening at Sundance, critics at Firstshowing.net and /Film.com have been praising this film. There has been so much praise, in fact that Lionsgate have picked up the film for distribution; hopefully for a very soon release date. I am pretty excited to see this film since Reynolds is my favorite actor. This film seems like a little gem that breaks away from the norm and is pretty ballsy and new. I like it. I can’t wait to see this film

Confirmed! Zombieland Writers to Pen Deadpool (Update 1/7)

I think this is a making of a beautiful thing they got going here. Zombieland = one of my favorite movies to date, and now the writers are helming one of the most praised superheroes of the geek world. According to Variety, the duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) will write up the screenplay to the Deadpool, who will be played by Ryan Reynolds, which is my favorite actor. This should be a pretty awesome turn out if the two don’t fail me, but I have high hopes. This is great news. I’m sure you enjoy this news as well also!

(Update) According to IESB, Reese and Wernick will also be writing the script for G.I. Joe 2. Weird? It can’t be any worse than the first film.

‘Buried’ Gets a Poster

Ryan Reynolds’ movie, Buried, has finally got an official one sheet that looks interesting. With a lighter and a cell phone as his only friends, Mr. Reynolds seems to be in quite a predicament of being buried alive. Time will only tell if this movie will be decent or not, but I have faith in Reynolds.

Marvel To DC – The Ryan Reynolds Story

ryanreynolds-greenlantern-fanart-02

Hey! Didn’t you know? Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the lead, Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, for DC Comics The Green Lantern film coming out in 2011. Pretty cool huh? Director Martin Campbell (Goldeneye, Casino Royale). There is a small article source at Variety if you don’t believe me.

Will the Real Hal Jordan Please Stand Up……

So rumors/news/movie talks have been discussing, WHO WILL BE THE GREEN LANTERN?!?! Welllll apparently the front runners are Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. I don’t think Reynolds should hog all the superhero glory, since he is deadpool already. Timberlake would be ok, he’d really have to beef up more and get rid of that voice. Cooper would be decent, he is seeing a lot of action lately and would be a recognizable face, but there is something dry in his acting and he’s only done comedies in big movies. I wouldn’t mind seeing a no name actor, but we’ll find out. Hopefully DC and Warner Bros. don’t produce another Superman Returns like film and create something that can stand against Thor and Captain America when they also come out in 2011. That must be the year of the superhero?
