Now that the second half of season three of The Walking Dead has come into our lives, audiences have a new reason to fear Sundays other than having to go back to work the next day. After the jump, get a glimpse of a few screenshots of the tenth episode, “Home,” along with a preview clip of Merle and Daryl rekindling their family ties.
With only seven episodes until the end of the third season, how will Glen Mazzara wrap up The Walking Dead for the newly hired showrunner for season four, Scott Simple? After the mid-season premiere, it feels like the show is reverting back to season two with slow plot development. Building up throughout the first half of season three, having Rick continue on the path toward insanity, to me, has added a new speed bump to an already busy season.
Now that Daryl and Merle have reunited and ventured out on their own, this new clip below from “Home” shows them exchanging bits of dialogue in order to calculate their next move:
Hopefully “Home” won’t be as slow as last week’s episode. Based on the plot synopsis, it doesn’t seem as though we’ll be as lucky:
As the group debates their next course of action, Rick wanders after a lost friend. Daryl and Merle question their choices. The Governor restores order in Woodbury and makes plans to punish those responsible.
Viewing the trailer of the second half of the third season, I expected a lot more action. Granted, the group needed to be introduced to Tyrese and his ragtag team of shady survivors while Woodbury needed to sort out the chaos within. Perhaps this is just a little breather to build tension. As long as Daryl is still alive that’s all that matters, right ladies?
How long will they make us suffer through Rick’s meandering? Rick was lost enough in the second season, we don’t need him moping around again while everyone else waits on his next move. That’s not what made the first half of this season so incredible. It certainly won’t help the show’s cause in the long run.
“Home,” episode 10 of The Walking Dead’s third season airs tonight on AMC at 9/8pm CST.
