Marvel Studios Begins Production of Captain America The Winter Solider

We’re just a month away until the Summer movie season begins and the big debut of Iron Man 3 is upon us. But before the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist can deliver his third standalone film, we must note that production for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has begun. Marvel Studios and Disney have just released the first image of the follow up to Captain America: The First Avenger, and you can find all the details after the jump.

A lot is riding on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to succeed post The Avengers. In 2008, no one could have predicted how successful Marvel Studios was going to be up to this point, let alone how well Iron Man would be received. Now, with Phase 1 behind us, we are looking at a whole new level of awesome with Phase 2. Iron Man 3 is on the horizon, Thor: The Dark World comes out this fall, and now production has begun for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Squee.

Production for The Winter Soldier has begun in Los Angeles, and will also be shot on location in Cleveland, Ohio and Washington D.C. With Joe and Anthony Russo (You, Me and Dupree) at the helm, despite his cinematic background, I believe with such a stellar cast and a screenplay written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – who have helped out on the first Captain America and The Avengers – this movie should end up pretty solid.
