Legendary Pictures Unleashes the ‘Godzilla’ Teaser Trailer (48 Screenshots)

Godzilla 2014 Teaser Trailer Still San Fran

The mother of all teaser trailers have arrived in the form of Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla. The two minute teaser is enough to get me on board for this Godzilla reboot. And with having Gareth Edwards in the director’s seat, my faith in this movie couldn’t be any greater. Watch the trailer and see 48 screenshots after the break.

Chills. With the ominous chanting score matched with the visuals of the soldiers halo dropping down upon the unknown is absolutely breathtaking. This is exactly how you do a teaser trailer. David Strathairn’s opening speech is very direct, making the jump all the more intense while you watch it. Everything is set up perfectly, teasing just enough to draw you in wanting more as the roar of the beastie ties it all up. The jump takes up a good portion of the trailer, but I’m completely OK with that. It’s just the first trailer. I suspect the marketing team really wants to keep Godzilla hidden. No point in putting your eggs all in one basket. I’m looking at you marketing team who does the Transformers movies.

Aside from the halo jump with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, we are given a preview of the other human characters very briefly. We see Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, and Elizabeth Olsen all giving their best Spielbergian stares into the distance as they witness something most likely horrifying. Mixed with the imagery of bombs and panic, Godzilla should be a wild ride of a summer blockbuster next year.

Here is the plot synopsis for Godzilla, courtesy of IMDb.com:

The world’s most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

What do you think of the trailer? Does this excite you enough or would you need to see more of how the king of monsters is handled?

Godzilla is expected to hit theaters in summer 2014.
