A final red band trailer for 22 Jump Street has appeared online. On June 13, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) will be taking the road to higher education, invading spring break college to bust drug dealers. Without the element of surprise, will we have a successful comedic sequel? You will find the NSFW, red band trailer after the break.
For a red band trailer, this is pretty tame. If I were to guess, this movie is not as funny as the first, or directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord have a good handle on their marketing team to not reveal any of the great jokes that we’ll enjoy in theaters. I prefer to believe in option two. After the huge success of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, and now The LEGO Movie, I believe Lord/Miller are simply two of the best working comedic directors in Hollywood.
Along with the returning cast, Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall also wrote the story again, but this time they recruited fresh faces into the mix to help write the screenplay. Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat: Rebirth) and Rodney Rothman (Late Show with David Letterman; Grudge Match) have assisted with Bacall in the screenplay. This diverse list of writers is quite the interesting combo and it will be interesting to see how their minds work to tackle a meta sequel.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for 22 Jump Street, courtesy of Apple Trailers:
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case—they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
Do you believe Miller and Lord can pull off their first sequel or will it fail expectations?
22 Jump Street hits theaters on June 13.
