Movies on Blu-Ray

Big Bad Wolves (Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado) A series of brutal murders puts the lives of three men on a collision course: The father of the latest victim now out for revenge… Starring Lior Ashkenazi, Rotem Keinan, Tzahi Grad, and Doval’e Glickman

Praised a Tarantino’s favorite movie of the year, Big Bad Wolves delivers on the quirky, dark dialogue you would come to expect from one of his films. Although the master of words had nothing to do with the film, it has some of the appeal of what Tarantino fans could come to expect. The characters are rather interesting and the plot is pretty thorough, but the there’s something about Big Bad Wolves that doesn’t quite make it as captivating as it could be. The music, the cinematography, and the tension building is pretty solid, but my attention waned on and off at certain points throughout the movie. It’s definitely worth a look-see in the form of a RENT. Special features include:

  • Making of Big Bad Wolves
  • AXS TV: A Look at Big Bad Wolves
  • Original Theatrical Trailer

Television on Blu-Ray

The Spectacular Spider-Man: The The Complete Series (Stan Lee and Steve Ditko) An animated television show that focuses on a 16-year-old Peter Parker and the origins of Spider-Man. Starring Josh Keaton, Lacey Chabert, and Joshua LeBar

This is the 2008-2009 short lived animated series, which had some praise, but ultimately was cancelled before it could stretch its legs. The 26-episode cartoon featured many different story arcs that included The Lizard, Tombstone, The Goblin, Venom, and many more. I particularly have not seen the show myself, but it looks harmless. Special features include:

  • Stylizing Spidey
  • Spider-Man: Re-Animated
  • The Spectacular Spider-Man Music Video
