From director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom), comes his second feature length film The Rover. Releasing on September on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital HD on September 23, The Rover is one of the most interesting pieces of cinema to come out this year; mostly for Robert Pattinson’s performance. See what special features come with the discs after the break.
Despite not having seen Animal Kingdom – and I have heard great things about it – I was intrigued by Michôd’s casting of Pattinson. Hidden beneath that pale vampire facade lies a pretty decent actor, given the opportunity to really act. I admired the ambition of David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis starring Pattinson, and the actor did a fine job as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But what he does in The Rover – and Guy Pearce is excellent too – is above and beyond anything you could ever imagine the star of Twilight dishing out.
It’s definitely worth taking a gander at and will definitely see the actor in a different light. The Rover Blu-ray/DVD contains the following special features:
- “Something Elemental: Making The Rover” featurette
Although this disc is light on special features, Robert Pattinson’s performance alone, singing Keri Hilson’s “Pretty Girl Rock,” is divine.
