‘The Interview’ Red Band Trailer is Surprisingly Funny (92 Screenshots)

The Interview Movie Red Band Trailer

The boys are back in town with an all new red band trailer for The Interview. Highlighting more of their regular R-rated shtick, Seth Rogen and James Franco are ready to take down Kim Jong-un. The premise over-the-top blows my mind as to how this thing got green-lit, but c’est la vie, right? At least this red band trailer is far more hilarious than its first teaser. Check it out after the break.

I was very skeptical after the initial teaser trailer for The Interview released earlier this year. And then with the push back from its original premiere to Christmas was a bit worrisome as well. But now after I seeing the red band trailer, I have a little more optimism. The laughs in the teaser were few and far between, and the plot just seemed moronic and out of left field. Now that we see the full game plan, with more mature comedy and fleshed out narrative, the film makes a little more sense.

I guess it goes to show you how well marketing plays into the movie going experience. I don’t think it’s going to be nearly as good as This is the End or Superbad, but it may just be a hell of a lot better than it actually appears to be.

Here’s the plot synopsis for The Interview, courtesy of Warner Bros.:

Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

Directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, The Interview stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan, Randall Park, Timothy Simons, Charles Rahi Chun, Rob Lowe, and Reese Alexander.

The Interview will be released in theaters on December 25, 2014.
