The latest trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service has just released. With more action and CGI Taron Egerton than ever before, this new trailer is seeking to gain the attention of those looking for the next big international spy. With Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn in the director’s seat, we can expect a lot of punchy, well-done action than just your a-typical Pierce Brosnan spy thriller, right? Watch the trailer after the break.
I have to admit that I get nothing out of this trailer. The marketing for Kingsman: The Secret Service isn’t speaking to me. The story seems pretty lackluster as far as the action spy adventure realm is concerned. Colin Firth and Mark Strong are two of my favorite British actors, but the young cast doesn’t appeal to me. It could be that I’m not giving their fresh, young faces a chance since I haven’t seen them perform before, so I hope that’s just it. And then there’s Samuel L. Jackson who plays the villain. I find his henchgirl with the “blade runners” to be more interesting than another movie where SLJ has a chance to chew up scenes.
What will be the saving grace of this film will be Matthew Vaughn’s vision. All of his work – Stardust; X-Men: First Class; and Kick-Ass – have been very fun pieces of cinema to devour. He’s got a great eye for action and knows good dialogue. My faith lies on Vaughn.
