After six months of waiting, 20th Century Fox has finally released the first full-length trailer for The Peanuts Movie. The teaser trailer, delivered to audiences earlier this March, didn’t end up showing us much of anything accept the animation style. But here we are treated to one of Snoopy’s ultimate missions as his the Flying Ace, as well as the character designs for the rest of The Peanuts gang. Check out the trailer after the break.

For some reason, I’m not really into the animation style. It’s like semi-claymation texture and simplistic style, although unique, isn’t very appealing to me. Is it well done? Yes, for the look they’re going for, I have to say that Blue Sky Studios did a superb job. I think it’s the animation of their facial expressions and lifeless eyes. It’s limiting and too simple. They’re honing in on the exact look of the comic, which is why if this is the way it has to be done I will be afraid when the studios choose to make a Calvin and Hobbes movie.

Bring back the good ole 2D animation like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. This trailer is fun for kids and hits a nostalgic accord with fans of the comics, but we still have no idea what The Peanuts Movie is all about. We’re still a year away from its release, in which time I hope the marketing can sell the movie a little better than prey on the recognition factor of the characters.
