HBO announced today that they have filled out their leading roster for the second season of True Detective
From what we know about True Detective Season 2, three police officers (Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch) will be working with a criminal (Vaughn) in order to crack a conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. Reilly will be playing Vaughn’s disgruntled wife who becomes entangled in his life of bad choices.
Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow; Fast and Furious 3-6) will direct the first two episodes. Whether or not Season 2 will play with the chronology of events like the first season did with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey has yet to be determined. HBO is keeping details fairly close the vest other than its brief plot synopsis and character descriptions.
Here is the official press release statement from HBO earlier today:
Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.
Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.
Kelly Reilly as Jordan, Frank Semyon’s wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.
True Detective Season 2 has no set date to premiere at this moment, but it is expected to make its way into homes in summer 2015.
