Before Ellen DeGeneres simply became known by her first name, joining the ranks of Shakira and Seal, she was an actress for film and television. On her talk show Ellen, she shared with her audience the final cut of the new Fifty Shades of Grey trailer in which she replaces leading actress Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. Watch the hilarious spoof after the break.
I find Ellen to be a really great talk show personality, but I’m not too familiar with her show other than checking out a few clips here and there. She says that she’s done parodies like these in the past and that she wanted to show the world the real cut of the film, stating that:
“I am so happy and proud to say I got the lead role and I am definitely going to be the lead in the movie. They’re acting like it’s Dakota Johnson. It’s not, it’s me. Because no one knows their way around a whip like me.”
Ellen also claims this to be some of her best work yet. Do you agree?
There is no official plot for Fifty Shades of Grey, but here’s the book overview from Barnes and Noble:
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, alongside Dornan and Johnson, Fifty Shades of Grey stars Luke Grimes as Elliot, Christian’s brother; Victor Rasuk as José, Anastasia’s close friend; Eloise Mumford as Kate, Anastasia’s best friend and roommate; Marcia Gay Harden as Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, Christian’s mother; Rita Ora as Mia, Christian’s sister; Max Martini as Taylor, Christian’s bodyguard; Callum Keith Rennie as Ray, Anastasia’s stepfather; Jennifer Ehle as Carla, Anastasia’s mother; and Dylan Neal as Bob, Carla’s husband.
Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters Valentine’s Day weekend on February 13, 2015.
