We’ve already seen a gorgeous, intense first look come out of Comic-Con 2014, but Warner Bros. has now officially released what they’re calling the first teaser trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road. This new high-octane trailer goes big and bold with insane visuals, incredible action sequences, and the Dies Irae Requiem to enhance your viewing pleasure. Watch the trailer and check out our hi-res screenshots after the break.
While a lot of the footage seen in this new trailer pretty much covers what was seen in the SDCC footage, this is still one hell of a teaser that doesn’t lessen it one bit. (We may as well call it one of the best trailers we’ve seen this year.) I’m not sure why George Miller was hiding behind films such as Happy Feet and Babe: Pig in the City, but he most certainly deserves a standing ovation for his return to the Mad Max franchise. Is there an option to have Miller direct all action movies from now on?
Aside from the plot synopsis below, this teaser doesn’t give us much to work with in terms of story. We can gather that Max (Tom Hardy) was a prisoner of Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), he some how escapes his clutches, and then joins forces with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron).
What the skull branding and steering wheel have anything to do with the story is beyond our comprehension at this time, but we’re eager to learn when we see the film up on the big screen. Finding out why there’s a big group collection of drums on a truck is only an added bonus.

Here is the official plot synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road, courtesy of Warner Bros.:
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
Written and directed by George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Zoe Kravitz, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Kennedy Miller Mitchell.
Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters on May 15, 2015.
