Welcome to your Netflix Streaming Report for February 26, 2015. After the long week you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix Watch Instant has been kind enough to supply us with RoboCop (2014), White Bird in a Blizzard, Powerpuff Girls, and more, which you can find after the jump as well as what’s leaving as of March.
RoboCop (2014) (José Padilha) Rated PG-13 [108 min] – In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy – a loving husband, father and good cop – is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Abbie Cornish
Surprisingly action packed and filled with interesting moral dilemmas, 2014’s RoboCop fits well into the vein of legitimate reboots. However, the movie isn’t as much fun as you would hope. It’s very middle of the road, and puts you through the paces of Detective Murphy. I’d say it’s worth a gander to check out the themes it has going for it that structurally fits in today’s society.

White Bird in a Blizzard (Gregg Araki) Rated R [91 min] – In 1988, a teenage girl’s life is thrown into chaos when her mother disappears. Starring Shailene Woodley, Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, and Shiloh Fernandez
For such a solid cast, Eva Green and Shailene Woodley do little to make this crime thriller intriguing. The motivations of the two are pretty thin and the story drags on and on. Eva Green truly chews up every scene and Woodley is pretty much reactionary and empty. Nothing to see here people.

Powerpuff Girls (Season 1-6) (Craig McCracken) Rated TV-Y7 [30 min] – Three super-powered little girls constantly save the world (or at least the city of Townsville) from monsters, would-be conquerers and a few other gross things. Starring Cathy Cavadini, Elizabeth Daily, Tara Strong, Tom Kenny, Tom Kane, and Roger Jackson
This classic cartoon has so much charm and wit that it’s hard not to be impressed by how smart it was for its time. The entire cast of wacky villains is one of the big reasons to revisit this wonderful show.
